Eastern Kentucky University’s beach volleyball team will begin its new season by participating in the Cincy Clash, held in Loveland, Ohio, starting February 20. The Colonels are scheduled to compete in four matches over two days against Liberty, Austin Peay, Morehead State, and Tusculum.

The first match is set for Friday at 8 a.m., with EKU facing Liberty. Last season, Liberty finished with an 18-8 record. EKU holds a perfect 6-0 record against Liberty and last defeated them 5-0 during the previous year’s Cincy Clash.

Later on Friday, EKU will play Austin Peay at 2 p.m. Austin Peay ended last season with a 3-22 record and lost twice to the Colonels by identical 5-0 scores.

On Saturday, EKU starts the day at noon against Morehead State. In last year’s Cincy Clash, Morehead State won narrowly over EKU with a score of 3-2; however, the Colonels later swept them 5-0 during the same season.

The tournament concludes for EKU with a match against Tusculum. The Colonels previously swept Tusculum 5-0 in their most recent meeting in 2025. Tusculum finished last season even at 15 wins and 15 losses.

EKU achieved its third consecutive winning season in 2025 by securing 14 victories and earning its first win in the ASUN Tournament. During last year’s Cincy Clash, EKU posted a record of three wins and one loss.

Senior Molly Shomock returns as a key player after competing in all but one dual last season, ending with a personal record of 14 wins and 13 losses overall and an 8-5 mark when playing in the second flight.

Junior Elpida Pitsigkoni matched for most team wins last year, recording a total of 16 victories against ten defeats. She had a notable performance in the fifth flight (12-8) and registered seven wins out of twelve matches versus ASUN opponents.

Seven new players have joined Eastern Kentucky’s roster for this upcoming campaign.
