The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams will compete at the ASUN Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida from May 14 to May 16. The event will be held at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium, with Championship Saturday airing on ESPN+.
The competition is significant for both the men’s and women’s teams. The EKU women finished third at last year’s outdoor championships, marking their best performance since joining the ASUN conference in 2021. The men’s team aims to improve after finishing fifth in 2025.
Several athletes enter the meet ranked among the top five in their events within the conference. Bradley Giblin holds school records and leads the ASUN in both the men’s 1,500 meters (3:37.12) and 5,000 meters (13:41.41). He previously won gold in the mile at this year’s indoor championships and is scheduled to race both the 5,000 meters and 800 meters this week. Taha Er Raouy, a cross country All-American, ranks second in both events behind Giblin and has multiple ASUN gold medals to his name; he will also race these distances.
Kristian Imroth is ranked first in men’s steeplechase (8:33.32) entering this week’s meet after winning last year’s title. Other men’s athletes expected to contend for podium finishes include Mario Priego Montero (No. 3/10,000m), Tomas Vega (No.4/steeplechase), German Vega (No.5/steeplechase), Miguel Baidal (No.1/10,000m; No.4/5,000m), Mohammed Jouhari (No.2/10,000m), Griffin Staude (No.4/10,000m), Matthew See (No.2/shot put with a school record throw of 17.66 meters), Alex Camarca (second-best javelin throw at 60.71 meters), William Kissick (third/discus), Daroyce Flemons and JJ Love among others.
On the women’s side, All-American Edna Chelulei leads with a school-record time of 31:33.57 in the league-leading women’s 10,000 meters as well as ranking second for her time of 15:36.70 over five kilometers; she is scheduled for both races this week after winning last year’s outdoor championship over five kilometers.
Freshman Brighter Jepchumba enters as No.1 over five kilometers outdoors with a school-record time of 15:28:09 while Morgan Kobylinski holds fourth place rankings heading into Saturday finals alongside Jepchumba; Khadija Ennasri owns top times across steeplechase plus high rankings over middle distances while Metrine Serem leads all runners entered into this week’s women’s fifteen hundred meter contest.
In throws events Lariah Wooden stands second-ranked shot putter with Amya Livingston just behind her; Kristan Simmons competes among disc throwers while Senda Garma contests hammer throw podium spots as well.
After these championships conclude on Saturday night qualified athletes from EKU are set to advance later this month to NCAA East Preliminaries scheduled for Lexington between May 27–30.
