Eastern Kentucky University lost to Bellarmine University, 14-10, in a high-scoring baseball game on April 11. The contest saw both teams trading leads before Bellarmine pulled ahead late in the game.

The matchup was tied at nine runs each after seven innings. Bellarmine then scored five runs over the final two innings, while Eastern Kentucky managed only one run in the ninth as their comeback attempt fell short.

Bellarmine started strong by scoring twice in the first inning. Eastern Kentucky responded with four runs, including a two-run home run by Dylan Littlefield and contributions from a balk and a sacrifice bunt by Reid Jackson. The teams continued to exchange leads throughout the early innings. Khaleel Pratt hit his ninth home run of the season for Eastern Kentucky and later added an RBI sacrifice fly.

In the middle innings, both teams continued to score frequently. Tyler Phillips drove in two runs for Eastern Kentucky with a single through the left side of the infield. However, Bellarmine loaded the bases several times and capitalized with timely hits and sacrifice plays to keep pace.

Bellarmine broke open a tie game by adding three more runs in the eighth inning after loading the bases again. They added another insurance run in the ninth before holding off Eastern Kentucky’s final rally attempt, which ended with consecutive strikeouts.

Littlefield finished one-for-four at bat with three RBIs and two runs scored for Eastern Kentucky. Pratt went one-for-two with two RBIs, while Jackson Cauthron led all Colonels players by scoring three runs.

The series between Eastern Kentucky University and Bellarmine will conclude tomorrow at 1 p.m.
