The Eastern Kentucky University softball team will conclude its regular season with four matches at the Scenic City Showdown in Chattanooga, according to an April 9 announcement from the university.

This tournament is important for EKU as it presents a final opportunity to build momentum before the ASUN Tournament. The Colonels are also just one win away from tying their program record for victories.

Play begins Friday morning against Georgia State, which holds a 13-15 record this season and previously defeated EKU 5-0 at the Day of Duals tournament. Later on Friday, EKU faces North Alabama, an ASUN Conference opponent that comes in with a 15-11 record and has already beaten EKU twice—once earlier this season and again last year during the conference tournament.

Saturday’s schedule starts with UT Martin. The Skyhawks are currently 9-4 and lead the all-time series against EKU by six wins to two. However, Eastern Kentucky won both meetings last year, including a close 3-2 match. The Colonels finish their regular season against Chattanooga, who have posted a strong 13-3 record and are riding a program-record streak of thirteen consecutive wins. In their most recent encounter last weekend, Chattanooga defeated EKU 5-0. Chattanooga’s top pair of McKenna Faychak and Maddie Leckik have earned back-to-back OVC Pair of the Week honors.

The Colonels enter this final stretch having won eight out of their last ten matches and finishing last weekend’s EKU Sand Fest with four wins out of five games.
