Eastern Kentucky University announced on May 14 that Elyse Autrey, a 5-foot-6 point guard, will join the women’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Greg Todd confirmed the addition of Autrey, who is transferring from Division II Augusta University.

The move brings an experienced player to the Colonels’ roster. Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Chad Gibney said, “We’re extremely excited to add Elyse to our roster for next season. She is a very high IQ player that fits our team-first culture. Elyse is very explosive, quick to the basket and does a tremendous job involving her teammates. We’re excited for her future here.”

Autrey played two seasons at Augusta University, appearing in 60 games with 38 starts and averaging 7.7 points and 2.5 assists per game overall. In her most recent season, she started in nearly every game and set career highs with averages of 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per contest while shooting over thirty-seven percent from the field.

During Augusta’s successful campaign last year—which included a Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance—Autrey ranked third on her team in scoring and second in minutes played. She scored double figures twelve times with five games reaching twenty or more points.

Before college, Autrey attended Virginia Academy in Ashburn where she was a four-time state champion and all-state selection.

EKU recently won its eleventh conference championship by capturing the Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season title in 2026 under head coach Todd’s leadership; he was named ASUN Coach of the Year as four Colonels earned all-conference honors.

Autrey is expected to report to campus this summer ahead of offseason workouts.
