Pratt hits two home runs but Eastern Kentucky falls to Austin Peay

Khaleel Pratt hit two home runs on April 4, but Eastern Kentucky University lost its series finale to Austin Peay, 12-9, at Earle Combs Stadium.

The game was marked by a strong offensive performance from Pratt, whose first home run in the fifth inning tied the score at 6-6. His second homer came in the seventh with a two-run shot that helped close the gap to 11-8. Ricco Longo added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to bring Eastern Kentucky within two runs.

Austin Peay (16-16, 7-5 ASUN) managed to hold off the Colonels’ rally by pitching two shutout innings at the end of the game. The Governors scored four runs on three errors by Eastern Kentucky in the seventh inning, building a five-run lead that proved decisive.

Eastern Kentucky (9-23, 4-8 ASUN) started strong with an early lead after RBI contributions from Tyler Phillips and Jackson Reid. The teams traded leads through much of the game until Austin Peay pulled ahead for good in the later innings. Houston Hebert’s double and Andres Matias’ RBI single were key plays for Austin Peay.

Pratt finished with three RBIs and three runs scored while going 2-for-4 at bat. David Alvarez also had a notable performance with two hits and two runs scored for Eastern Kentucky. For Austin Peay, Matias went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Eastern Kentucky will play its next game against Vanderbilt on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
