The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that the new bypass project is progressing. The route location will be east of Berea Road/US 25 Southeast to Big Hill Road/KY 21.
When finished, milepoints will be 4.3 to 7.87, with the new road beginning at the existing bypass.
This new route will be a connection that will include both two and four lanes. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is June 30, 2023. Preliminary operations began March 3, 2021.
Monday, August 22 – 10 a.m. (time is approximate)
Note: the new traffic pattern, described below, will be in place until approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30
KY 1016
• a traffic diversion will begin which is necessary for the completion on this section of roadway
• the traffic switch will take place at approximately milepoint 2.0 where the route connects to the new bypass
• motorists will be traveling in both directions on KY 1016 and will move through curves to enter and exit the diversion (instead of the straightaway pattern that is in place now)
Motorists should be aware of the traffic pattern changes (and plan to reduce speed) when entering and exiting the construction zone.
