Three Men’s Soccer Athletes Awarded All-Conference Honors

Three Berea College men's soccer team members earned All-CCS honors on Thursday, conference officials announced.

Senior Christoff Mendy was named to the conference's first team, while fellow seniors Max Jr. and Junior Gyamfi were selected to the second team.

Mendy was an important piece for Berea's defensive line that recorded six shutouts this season, starting all 19 matches while only committing seven fouls. The Griffin, Ga. product also provided some spark for the offense, recording three goals and six shots on goal.

Even though his season was cut short due to an injury, Max's efforts at the beginning of the season shined as he scored 11 goals in 10 games, of which he had a hat-trick in two contests. Max finished the season ranked second in the conference in goals scored, first in shots (53), second in shots on goal (39), and fourth in points (23).

Gyamfi started in 17 out of the Mountaineers' 19 contests.  He ranked fifth in the conference in goals (seven), fifth in shots (66), fifth in shots on goal (24), first in assists (10), and second in points (24). On the national level, Gyamfi is also tied for 11th in NCAA DIII in total assists.

The Berea College men's soccer team finished their 2022 campaign with a 9-7-3 record and an appearance in the first round of the CCS Conference Tournament.
