Explore Financial Aid Options to Start Near Richmond, KY
Higher education is an investment and requires a significant commitment of your time and money. Attending a career and technical college is more cost-effective than a four-year university, but it is still prohibitively expensive for many students. About ⅔ of students receive some form of financial aid to offset the costs of tuition, books, supplies, and other necessities for obtaining professional certification or licensure in a medical field. Medical Career & Technical College believes that educational opportunities should be available for anyone who wants them, so we offer several financial aid options to start your medical career.
Our Programs
Medical Career & Technical College offers programs that vary in total cost from approximately $13,000 to $20,000. Whether you want to become a dental assistant, medical massage therapist, or practical nurse, a lack of funding should not be the determining factor in obtaining your certification. We are proud to participate with a number of federal and state-based aid programs.
Federal Financial Aid
Federal financial aid options include Pell Grants that do not need to be repaid and loans that are not based on your credit. Repayment begins six months after graduation and is extended over a teen year period. Parent Plus loans are another federal option that provides credit-based loans for parents of dependent students. Fill out your FAFSA® form on studentaid.gov and speak to our Financial Aid director for more information about federal financial aid programs.
Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship
The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) has funding available on a first come, first serve basis for qualified students. To be eligible, you must have completed high school or its equivalent, be a Kentucky resident, and be enrolled in a postsecondary education program that will result in a certification or diploma in a high-demand section of the workforce. The KHEAA also has services tailored to adult students.
VA Benefits
Commonly known as the GI Bill®, benefits from the office of Veterans’ Affairs are available to assist current service members, veterans, and qualified family members with funding for their education. In addition to helping you pay for your education, the GI Bill® also offers tutorial assistance to increase your chances of success, and entrepreneurial funding for those using their education to start their own business.
Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act
The best time to begin seeking employment in your new field is before graduation. The WIOA offers relevant job searches and resume assistance to help you land your dream job. You can also explore various careers and research specific programs of study and career paths. A search option is available to search where in the country you will have the best job outlook.
Vocational Rehabilitation
The faculty and staff at Medical Career & Technical College encourage members of the community with disabilities to utilize the resources from the Vocational Rehabilitation program to reach their educational and professional goals. Millions of Americans have a recognized disability, but only ⅓ of these individuals have gainful employment. The VR program can provide assistance with paying for your chosen program at Medical Career & Technical College, as well as job-placement services following completion of your program. Creating Access to Successful Employment (Project CASE) is a program dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities to find employment in promising fields, such as healthcare. The VR program can also help you discover pathways to assistive technology that can increase your chances of career success.
Other Funding Options
We recognize that while not everyone will qualify for financial aid programs, everyone should have access to funding opportunities. You can apply for a credit-based loan through Climb Credit and enjoy a repayment period that extends beyond graduation. Students can also take advantage of our low monthly or bi-montly payments on an interest-free plan.
