EKU Beach Volleyball Goes 3-1 On Opening Weekend
The EKU beach volleyball team moved to 3-1 after splitting matches with Austin Peay and Morehead State on Sunday at the Grand Sands Tournaments
EKU rallied from a 2-1 deficit against the Governor as Hannah Keating and Paityn Walker kept the Colonels alive with a 21-17, 21-14 win at the No. 2 flight. In a winner-take-all battle at No. 3, Rachel Mueller and Bella Williams earned a 21-18, 13-21, 15-10 victory to give EKU its second 3-2 victory in as many days over Austin Peay.
The Colonels battled throughout the match before falling 4-1 to Morehead State, forcing third sets on courts three and four while Keating and Walker notched a 21-19, 21-17 win at No. 1.
The duo of Keating and Walker finished the weekend 4-0, winning three points at the No. 2 flight and once at No. 1. Keating and Walker won all eight of their sets in Cincinnati.
The Colonels travel to Springfield, Mo., next weekend for matches against UT Martin (10:45 a.m.) and McKendree (12:15 p.m.) on Mar. 3 and Southwest Baptist (10:45 a.m.) and Missouri State (1:45 p.m.) on Mar. 4.
