Women’s Basketball Lands in Top-25 Poll for First Time in Program History
The Berea College women's basketball team is ranked No. 25 in the Week 13 D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll. This is the first time the Mountaineers have ranked in the top-25 in program history.
The Mountaineers (26-2 overall) received 35 points in the poll.
Christopher Newport (Va.) is the top-ranked team in this week's poll, earning 617 points and 18 of 25 first-place votes.
Transylvania University (Ky.), University of Scranton (Pa.), Smith College (Mass.), and Trinity College (Tex.) round out the top five.
The Berea College Mountaineers are fresh off a CCS Conference Championship win, defeating the Piedmont University Lions (Ga.) 71-63. The Mountaineers also won the regular-season crown with a 15-1 conference record.
The Mountaineers heard their name called during Monday's selection show and will play in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday. Berea will face the host No. 16 Ohio Northern University at 8 p.m. in Ada, Ohio.
