Blanton Chosen First Team NABC All-District

Devontae Blanton was voted to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District III First Team.

NABC's District III includes all teams in the ASUN Conference and the Big South Conference.

Blanton was selected ASUN First Team All-Conference in February by league coaches.  He was also chosen to the 2023 ASUN All-Tournament Team.

Blanton is fifth in the ASUN in scoring (16.58 ppg), fifth in field goal percentage (44.9 percent), eighth in rebounding (6.39 rpg) and 15th in free throw percentage (69.7 percent).  The junior from Macedonia, Ohio, was chosen as the ASUN Player of the Week on Feb. 6 after averaging 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while leading EKU to wins over Jacksonville State and first place Kennesaw State.  Blanton scored a season-high 27 points against North Alabama on Feb. 18.  He has scored 20 or more in a game 13 times this season.

In two ASUN tournament games, Blanton averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals.  He shot 46 percent from the field and made 43 percent from behind the 3-point arc.  Blanton scored a team-best 15 points in the Colonels' 73-48 quarterfinal round victory over North Alabama.  He also had four rebounds and two steals.  In a 79-73 loss to No. 2 seed Liberty in the semifinals, Blanton scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, handed out two assists and had one steal.

EKU plays in the first round of the 2023 Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational (CBI) against Cleveland State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
