How to Listen after the Flood

In July 2022, a flood in eastern Kentucky killed 39 people and left thousands homeless. Part of healing is being able to share, somehow with someone, what has happened. But how does a community begin to hear each other’s stories when the places they live and the land they love have undergone unimaginable loss? How does one begin to tell their own story? Celesta Riffe, Associate Director of Strategy Development and Programming at Partners for Rural Impact, will share her continuing experience of doing just that in the Letcher County mountains that serve as the headwaters of the north fork of the Kentucky river. Co-sponsored with LJAC. Appalachian Lecture.
